Today - a bit of nostalgia. In going through some old files in the last bits of an electronic file conversion process, some old computer program appendices turned up. Before 2001, patent applicants could actually submit computer program listings, which were part of the patent application, via microfiche. That's before Alice, of course, when the idea that your invention was implemented in software was actually potentially helpful.
